The second batch of Active Antenna Amplifiers is now ready. The boards passed the final tests. There was some delay due to PCB redesign. The new model is AAA-1B. There are some minor changes mainly to improve the LF reception (thanks to the user’s feedback).
- Improved LF frequency response – wideband transformers with higher inductance are used.
- Lower noise factor for the lower frequency region (below 1.5 MHz).
- Added an input balun to improve 2-nd order IMD when a large or asymmetric electric antenna is used. The balun can be switched on/off with jumpers.
COMPARISON BETWEEN AAA-1 AND AAA-1B
There will be no differences in the loop amplifier performance for frequencies above 1.5 MHz. The differences in LF region can be noticed only if the electromagnetic environment is very quiet. The dipole amplifier common mode balun can be added to AAA-1 model as described in the Application note (Active Antenna Amplifier – Technical Information).
